No ID Badge
No Access Code No Entry! |
We are all familiar with the sign
at restaurants and grocery stores - "No
Shirt, No Shoes, No Service." Well, did you know that UCMC
has its own version of the popular sign? It is "No ID Badge, No
Access Code,
No Entry!"
It is important that we all wear
our ID Badges and use our own access codes and key cards when entering
UCMC buildings and accessing patient care and staff/physicians only
areas.
Following these rules reduces the
chance of unauthorized individuals accessing restricted areas and
protected health information (PHI).
These are additional ways that we all can protect our patients' safety
and privacy! It also protects employee safety.
It is human nature to hold the
door open for others entering buildings or restricted areas, but before
you do it is important to look and see if they are wearing their UCMC
ID Badge. If you don't see ID Badges then play it safe... let
them swipe in or use their own access code/key card to gain entry.
If you see individuals accessing
restricted or patient care areas without a UCMC ID Badge or other valid
identification (e.g. UCMC contractor badge, supplier sticker, or
visitor card), contact UCMC Security
Services at (773) 702-6262 for assistance.
Let's continue to create a safe
environment for our patients, visitors, and employees.
