Have you been caught by the HIPAA Program Office(HPO)? 

At UCMC, there is a lot of "real estate" to cover and the HPO needs your assistance to ensure UCMC protects our patients' privacy and confidentiality. There are many opportunities for employees to do something big or small to help foster a culture of compliance with HIPAA. The HPO knows that every day, employees are "turning awareness into action" and it wants to recognize them for their efforts.

Members of the HPO want to "catch" you in the act. As we are out and about in the Medical Center, we will acknowledge "good catches" that reflect the many ways individuals protect patient privacy. So don't be alarmed when someone taps you on the shoulder and says "you've been caught." It is a good thing.

When a HIPAA Good Catch is observed, the employee receives an on-the-spot THANKS and a "TURNING AWARENESS INTO ACTION- Protecting Patient Privacy and Security at the UCMC" candy bar, as a token of our appreciation.
